Influencing Factors to Job Involvement of Caregivers in General Hospital: Job Stress, Sleep Quality, and Communication Competence

Abstract

|
Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the influencing factors to job involvement of caregivers in general hospital such as job stress, sleep quality, and communication competence in their workplace.
Method: Data were collected by self-administered questionnaire survey from March 2 to 20, 2015. Respondents were 182 caregivers working at four hospitals located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do province. Job stress, sleep quality, communication competence and job involvement of caregiver were measured using Likert scale. Data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0.
Results: Concentration in communication, recovery after sleep, interpersonal job stress, and health level were identified as influencing factors to the job involvement of caregivers in general hospital. Affective job involvement was explained positively by concentration in communication, recovery after sleep, and health level, and negatively by interpersonal job stress. Normative job involvement was explained positively by concentration in communication, and recovery after sleep.
Conclusions: Work-based programs and policies for caregivers in hospital
